NEPSE index records slight decline amid mixed sector performance

Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a modest decline in today’s trading session, falling by 4.18 points to close at 2,833.60 points.

A total of 21.63 million shares of 342 companies were traded 111,180 times, generating a turnover of Rs 8.66 billion 55.68 billion.

Sector-wise, banking declined by 0.47 percent, development banks by 0.55 percent, finance by 0.29 percent, life insurance by 0.46 percent, microfinance by 0.42 percent, trade by 0.21 percent and other groups by 1.62 percent.

In contrast, several sub-indices posted gains. Hotels and tourism increased by 1.02 percent, hydropower by 0.66 percent, investment by 0.13 percent, production and processing by 0.40 percent, mutual funds by 0.36 percent, and non-life insurance by 0.46 percent.

According to NEPSE, the share prices of four companies hit the positive circuit limit during today’s trading.
