12 Parliamentary committees complete leadership selection process, Chairpersons elected
Kathmandu: The parliamentary committees under the federal parliament have completed their work with the election of their chairpersons. With the election of chairpersons in 12 committees on Friday, the committees have formally completed their work.
In the election process, chairpersons were unanimously elected in 10 committees, while there was competition in two committees.
Among those who were unanimously elected are Hari Dhakal as the chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Samiksha Baskota as the chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary as the chairperson of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, Ashish Gajurel as the chairperson of the Infrastructure Development Committee, and Aakriti Awasthi as the chairperson of the Women and Social Affairs Committee.
Similarly, Bodh Narayan Shrestha has been unanimously elected to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, Rahbar Ansari as the chairperson of the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee, Sumnima Udas as the chairperson of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, and Krishnahari Budhathoki as the chairperson of the Finance Committee.
Bharat Khadka of the main opposition Nepali Congress was unanimously elected as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. He was the sole candidate.
There was competition in two committees. In the State Directive Principles, Policies and Responsibilities Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, Ganesh Karki and Madan Kumari Shah (Garima) contested, with Karki being elected.
Similarly, there was a competition between Ojaswi Sherchan and Guru Prasad Baral in the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee. Sherchan won.
Due to the majority of the National Independent Party, the candidates of that party won in both the committees in which there was competition.
