Achham: Mellekh Rural Municipality in Achham has terminated the contracts of 48 temporary employees. The decision was made during the 7th executive meeting held on Kartik 30, resulting in the cancellation of contract agreements for all temporary staff working in the municipality.

According to Acting Chief Administrative Officer Sangita Tamrakar, the employees have not reported to the office since Mangsir 1, following the executive meeting’s decision and a letter received from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The terminated positions include one radiographer, four lab workers, six nurses, one staff nurse, one medical officer, eight ward assistants, one computer operator, one assistant computer operator, three eye treatment center workers, three technicians, one sports coach, two sweepers, eight sweepers, and five office assistants.

The cancellation of the contracts has significantly affected service delivery. Tamrakar said that the regular work of the office has been disrupted due to the shortage of staff. The eye treatment center has been closed, and services that require a medical officer are currently being handled by a single AHEB.

She also noted challenges in maintaining office cleanliness. The process to fill the vacant posts through examinations has been initiated to appoint the necessary staff.
