322 households in Dadeldhura receive land ownership certificates
Dadeldhura: A total of 322 households in Dadeldhura have received land ownership certificates since the dissolution of the Land Problem Resolution Commission.
Outgoing district chair of the commission, Kailash Kumar Pandey, shared details of the commission’s work following the closure of its district office. According to him, revenue of Rs 20 million was collected within seven months during the distribution process. He stated that the commission achieved notable progress in a short period, ranking third nationwide and first in the Far West based on performance evaluation.
The commission distributed land ownership certificates to 14 households in Ajayameru Rural Municipality, 96 in Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality, 137 in Aalital Rural Municipality, and 75 in Parashuram Municipality. It had planned to distribute certificates to an additional 2,000 people in the current fiscal year, but the process was halted following the commission’s dissolution.
Pandey said that the commission had received 14,000 applications from landless Dalits, squatters, and unorganized settlers across the district and had already begun land surveying based on those applications. The commission aimed to permanently resolve landlessness issues and ensure land ownership for the affected groups. However, the cabinet meeting held on Asoj 23 decided to dissolve the commission.
Following the decision, the government is preparing to transfer all records, responsibilities, and remaining work of the commission to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation. The ongoing work of the commission in various districts has now been suspended.
