National identity card registration camps expanded to remote areas of Baitadi
Baitadi: The collection of national identity card details in Baitadi district has been intensified through local-level registration camps to ensure easier and faster services for citizens in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Previously, the work of collecting identity card details was conducted only by the District Administration Office and the Area Administration Office, Purchadi. At the initiative of local authorities, the process has now been expanded, with registration camps launched in Dilashaini Rural Municipality and Melauli Municipality, informed Chief District Officer Punya Bikram Poudel.
Since the national identity card is mandatory for accessing various government and non-government services—including social security allowances and bank account openings—citizens had faced difficulties due to the need to travel to the district headquarters. To address this, arrangements have been made to collect identity card details directly in villages and municipalities. About 1,500 citizens have already registered through earlier camps held in Dogadakedar Rural Municipality and Patan Municipality.
Currently, camps are being held at the office of Dilashaini Rural Municipality-6 in Dadiya and the office of Melauli Municipality, running until mid-July and continuing through Bhadra 1. According to Dilashaini Rural Municipality spokesperson Yagyaraj Bhatta, these camps—organized in collaboration with the rural municipality and the District Administration Office—will greatly benefit social security allowance recipients and local residents.
In Melauli Municipality, an additional camp will be conducted in the Salena area on Bhadra 2 and 3, informed Chief Administrative Officer Narayan Chand. Preparations are also underway to hold similar registration camps in other rural municipalities, including Sigas, Pancheshwor, and Surnaya.
Distribution of national identity cards continues through the Area Administration Office in Purchandi Municipality and the District Administration Office in Dasharathchand Municipality. The District Administration Office has emphasized efficient and effective service delivery, aiming to make identity cards easily accessible to all citizens for use in government services and other official purposes.
