Prime Minister Oli begins official visit to Thailand, set to address BIMSTEC summit

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has embarked on an official visit to Thailand to participate in the 6th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
This marks the first-ever official visit by a Nepali Prime Minister to Thailand at the friendly invitation of Thai Prime Minister Phatthongthan Shinawatra. The delegation, led by Prime Minister Oli, departed for Bangkok via Thai Airlines. Earlier, he was seen off at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and a contingent of the Nepali Army, which offered a guard of honour.
During the visit, bilateral talks at the Prime Ministerial level will take place, and six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) related to tourism and culture will be signed between governmental and non-governmental sectors of both countries, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following the talks, Prime Minister Oli will participate in a joint press briefing alongside Thai Prime Minister Shinawatra. The one-day official visit will conclude with a meeting with the King of Thailand.


Additionally, on Chaitra 21, Prime Minister Oli will attend a formal dinner hosted for BIMSTEC leaders. The following day, on Chaitra 22, he is scheduled to participate in and address the BIMSTEC Summit. The delegation will return to Nepal on Chaitra 23.
