Health office Baitadi conducts mobile camps to identify tuberculosis patients

Baitadi: The Health Office Baitadi has launched an initiative to identify tuberculosis patients, particularly in rural and remote areas of the district.
According to Lab Technician Inspector Jaysingh Badal, the office has been conducting mobile health camps in collaboration with local authorities to screen and diagnose potential tuberculosis cases. These mobile camps facilitate the collection and testing of sputum samples, ensuring early detection and treatment.

So far, mobile camps have been completed in five out of ten local levels, with plans to expand coverage as long as funding permits. Camps have already been conducted at Brahma Basic Health Center in Dilashaini, Nwali Health Center in Dogadakedar, and Binayak under Aamchaura Health Post in Pancheshwor Rural Municipality. Additionally, Nagarjun Basic Health Center in Shivnath Rural Municipality and Kandhar Basic Health Center in Sigas Rural Municipality have hosted similar screening camps.

Out of 223 samples tested, four individuals have been confirmed to have tuberculosis, while results for 71 samples collected in Kandhar are still pending. Currently, 98 tuberculosis patients in the district are undergoing treatment.
Information Officer Bipin Lekhak stated that the mobile camps also provide specialist services, offering screening and counseling for tuberculosis, leprosy, malaria, and other non-communicable diseases as part of the Health Office's regular program.
