Kandra river embankment construction in Kailali nears completion

Kailali: The construction of an embankment on the Kandra River in Kailali is in its final stage, aimed at preventing annual erosion that has been affecting hundreds of hectares of land during the monsoon season.

The project, initiated at a cost of Rs 50 million, includes the construction of 830 meters of embankment and five spurs along various sections of the riverbank. According to the District Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, significant progress has been made in multiple locations.

Key construction updates:
1. Bhajani Municipality-9 (Kanda): 216 meters of embankment work nearing completion.
2 .Ward No. 4 (Dhanaura): 216 meters of embankment work in two sections nearing completion.
3. Gauriganga Municipality-9 (Saigari): 122 meters of embankment completed.
4. Ghodaghodi Municipality-11 (Sisaiya): 60 meters of embankment completed.
5. Spurs construction: Three spurs completed in Ward No. 11 and two in Ward No. 12.

According to Tekraj Binadi, Information Officer of the office, once the embankment is completed, fertile lands will be safeguarded, and communities along the riverbanks will be protected from the risk of flooding and erosion.
