Dhangadhi: Far Western Province Chief Nazir Miya has highlighted that Khakhadehara Festival is a significant cultural event that embodies the identity and history of the Rana Tharu community.

In a message of goodwill on the occasion of Khakhadehara Festival, Provincial Chief Miya emphasized that the festival symbolizes brotherhood, mutual harmony, and unity among the Rana Tharu people. "Khakhadehara is a festival that carries the identity and history of the Rana Tharu community. It is also depicted as a festival that fosters brotherhood, mutual harmony, and unity among them," stated his message.

He further stressed that traditional festivals like Khakhadehara play a crucial role in strengthening nationalism by promoting socio-cultural tolerance and solidarity. "These and similar festivals contribute significantly to strengthening nationalism through socio-cultural tolerance and solidarity. To ensure that such traditions continue in a civilized and grand manner in the future, it is essential for the new generation to inherit cultural values from the older generations," he stated.

Extending his best wishes for Khakhadehara Festival 2081, he expressed hope that it would inspire all Nepalis to take the lead in building a just, civilized, cultured, and progressive society by spreading joy, prosperity, and enthusiasm.

The Rana Tharu community of Western Terai celebrates Khakhadehara Festival today, marking the conclusion of their biggest annual festival. In recognition of its cultural importance, the Sudurpaschim Provincial Government has declared a public holiday across the province. The Rana Tharu community residing in Kanchanpur and Kailali of Nepal as well as in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand of India observes the festival with similar traditions.
