Four national players signed by CYC Attariya for Arjun trophy
Dhangadhi: CYC Attariya, a cricket team based in Kailali, has secured the participation of four national players for the upcoming Arjun Trophy national cricket tournament. Organized by Go Dreamers, the tournament will be held in Dhangadhi from Magh 19 to 28.
The team has signed Bhim Sarki, Vivek Yadav, Sahab Alam, and Rashid Khan, who represent the Nepali national cricket team. Bhim, Sahab, and Rashid were previously part of Kathmandu Gorkhas in the Nepal Premier League, while Vivek played for Lumbini Lions.
In addition to these national players from Category A, CYC Attariya has finalized five players from Category B, including Santosh Karki, Tripta Das, Dipesh Kandel, Shankar Rana, and Sandeep Chhetri. The team, under Coach Rajat Shahi, is in the process of selecting players for Category C, with the full 14-member squad to be announced soon.
The Arjun Trophy, a T-20 format tournament, is being organized in memory of the late Arjun Khadka, a prominent cricket mentor from the Far West Province. It features a prize pool of approximately Rs 2 million. The champion team will receive Rs 1 million, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 500,000 along with a trophy. Individual awards include Rs 100,000 for the best player, Rs 50,000 each for the best batsman, bowler, and emerging player, and Rs 10,000 for the man of the match in each game.
The tournament will feature eight teams: DCA Dhangadhi, CYC Attariya, Cricket Excellence Center (CEC) Kathmandu, Friends Youth Club Dadeldhura, Ghodaghodi-11 Sukhad, New Horizon Butwal, Dashrath Chand Academy Baitadi, and Boston Cricket Jhapa. Matches will follow a league-cum-knockout format and will be played at the Fapla International Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi.
Each participating team will comprise players from three categories: four from Category A (Nepali national team), five from Category B (Nepali national team A, U-19, and provincial senior players), and five from Category C (U-16, provincial U-19, U-16, and other players).
