RSVP Kailali district convention election results declared void
Dhangadhi: The Central Election Commission of the National Independent Party (RSVP) has annulled the election process conducted under the Kailali district convention along with all results announced from it.
According to a letter issued by commission chief Bhuwan KC, the entire election process and its results have been canceled as the Kailali district convention was found to be in violation of the party’s statute and election procedures.
The commission stated that the minimum required procedures were not followed during the election, established rules for voting and counting were violated, and most of the main candidates boycotted the election by submitting written disagreement. It also concluded that the participation of eligible members and representatives was not ensured.
Earlier, in the disputed election, Kavindra Thakulla was elected district president. Among other candidates, Mahesh Kumar Chaudhary received 37 votes and Hari Regmi received 22 votes.
However, even before the election, candidates Hari Regmi and Mahesh Kumar Chaudhary had boycotted the process, alleging that the election committee was illegitimate and that there were irregularities in the voter list. They had also filed a formal complaint demanding the election be halted.
After reviewing the complaint and evidence, the Central Election Commission concluded that the election process was flawed.
The commission has stated that a new schedule will be announced soon and a central representative team will be deployed to conduct the election in Kailali in a fair, transparent, and legal manner. Re-elections will be held to select the leadership of the Kailali District Committee.
