Public holidays declared in Melauli and Shivnath for local festivals in Baitadi
Baitadi: Melauli Municipality and Shivnath Rural Municipality in Baitadi have announced public holidays today and tomorrow to mark local religious festivals.
Melauli Municipality has declared a holiday citywide for the Melauli Bhagwati Jatra, a prominent festival held in Melauli Municipality-1. Chief Administrative Officer Narayan Bahadur Chand stated that all government offices, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, banks, and financial institutions within the municipality will be closed. This annual holiday encourages widespread community participation in celebrating the revered Jatra.
Similarly, Shivnath Rural Municipality has announced two days of public holidays in recognition of the Jatra at Dehigada Bhagwati Temple in Ward No.-4. Karnasingh Saund, Chairman of the rural municipality, noted that the decision was made in an executive meeting on Kartik 8, considering the significant turnout of local devotees. The annual Jatra at Dehigada Bhagwati Temple takes place on Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi and Purnima, attracting pilgrims from Nepal and neighboring India.
In addition, Surnaya Rural Municipality will observe a holiday tomorrow to honor the Phalangsaini Bhagwati Jatra held at the temple in Ward No.-5. This two-day Jatra concludes tomorrow, the main celebration day, with a holiday across government and non-government institutions, educational bodies, and financial organizations within the municipality.
