Truck Driver Apprehended on Charges of Assaulting Minor in Baitadi

Baitadi: Law enforcement authorities in Baitadi have taken a truck driver into custody in connection with a distressing incident involving the molestation of a young girl. Mahesh Ojha, a resident of Melauli Municipality-7 within the district, was arrested on charges of alleged sexual misconduct. This development was confirmed by Inspector of Police Yogesh Khatri, the Information Officer of the District Police Office in Baitadi.

The allegations against Ojha center on an incident in which he, the driver of a mini truck with license plate number SE 1 B 1979, was transporting cement from Mahendranagar to Melauli. It is reported that during this journey, he assaulted a 17-year-old girl who was also on board the mini truck, en route to Budar in Doti.

Subsequently, the police took swift action, apprehending Ojha and impounding the truck in the vicinity of Hirapur, which falls within Patan Municipality-6. The young victim, who had been traveling in the mini truck from Attariya to Baitadi, filed a formal complaint with the police, asserting that the driver subjected her to a harrowing ordeal within the confines of the truck during the night of the incident.

This arrest underscores the commitment of law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of citizens, especially minors, in the region. Further investigations into the matter will be conducted to ascertain the full extent of the incident and to ensure that justice is served.
