Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan urges Sudurpaschim government to expedite local service act

Dhangadhi: The Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City has called on the Sudurpaschim provincial government to immediately issue the long-pending Local Service Act, citing disruptions in service delivery caused by ongoing employee protests.
Although the Constitution of Nepal mandates permanent service arrangements at the local level, the corresponding legislation remains stalled in the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly. Employees across the province have been protesting to demand assurance of their services, facilities, and career development, resulting in a halt to daily administrative functions.

In a formal letter sent on April 30 to Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah and the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Mayor Gopal Hamal highlighted the growing operational difficulties faced by the sub-metropolitan office. The letter states that all employees in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City have been participating in a protest program led by the Local Level Employees Province Struggle Committee since 26 Baisakh 2082 BS, severely affecting service delivery.

The employees from all 88 local levels in Sudurpaschim Province have converged in Dhangadhi and are staging daily sit-ins in front of the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers to press their demands.
The Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City has urged swift action to finalize the legal process and enact the Local Service Act to restore normalcy and ensure uninterrupted public service.
