Police register murder complaint in death of Baitadi man following alleged assault

Dhangadhi: A murder complaint has been filed in connection with the death of 45-year-old Ganesh Mahara, a resident of Rangajujauna in Patan Municipality-8, Baitadi.

Mahara's son, Krishna Mahara, lodged the complaint at the local police office, accusing a local resident, Narendra Mahara, of assaulting his father. According to the complaint, Narendra allegedly grabbed Ganesh by the neck and slammed his head against a cement wall, causing serious injuries. The complaint also calls for an investigation into the involvement of two other individuals, Dan Singh Mahara and Kamal Singh Mahara.

The incident reportedly occurred on April 20, when Ganesh Mahara was found injured on the road near his home. He was taken to Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi on April 13, 11 days after the fall. Despite being under medical care, he was discharged on Monday with oxygen support and died the following day, Tuesday.

Family members have labeled the circumstances of his death as suspicious and have demanded a thorough investigation following a post-mortem. The body of the deceased has been kept at the District Hospital, Baitadi, pending further examination.
