Tragic Rhino Attack Claims Woman's Life in Kanchanpur

Kanchanpur: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Kanchanpur when a woman fell victim to a rhinoceros attack, resulting in her untimely demise.

The incident occurred within the confines of Shuklaphanta National Park in the district. Tragically, 42-year-old Belmati Budha, a resident of Beldandi Rural Municipality-2, Gundi tol, lost her life on Friday morning while gathering mushrooms in the park. She succumbed to her injuries on the spot as a result of the rhinoceros attack.

Accompanying Belmati were two other women who had also ventured into the park in search of mushrooms. Fortunately, these two women managed to escape unscathed, preserving their lives.

Manoj Air, the assistant conservation officer of Shuklaphanta National Park, reported that preliminary information indicated the tragic incident occurred in the Kalikich Lake area of Beldandi Rural Municipality, which falls within the jurisdiction of the park. Further details regarding this unfortunate incident are expected to be disclosed in due course.
