Customs Evasion Goods Seized in Kailali and Kanchanpur

Dhangadhi: In recent developments, authorities have successfully intercepted and confiscated illicitly imported goods involved in customs evasion cases in the regions of Kailali and Kanchanpur. The contraband, comprising sugar, pulses, pasta, and assorted retail groceries with an estimated value of approximately Rs 50,000, was discovered abandoned in the vicinity of Milan Chowk within Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, Kailali-3. Promptly responding to the situation, local law enforcement personnel took possession of these illicit items.

Similarly, a separate incident unfolded in front of the Bhimdatta Municipality-10 Electricity Office in Kanchanpur, where customs officials unearthed a cache of sugar, mustard oil, and various other goods valued at around 32,315 rupees. Additionally, in the precincts of Belauri Municipality 1, Baishakha, a significant quantity of women's attire including suits, sarees, along with accessories such as bangles and beverages, totaling approximately 73,000 rupees, was discovered to have entered the region through fraudulent customs means. On Monday, law enforcement authorities detailed that these seized items had been abandoned and were consequently placed under official custody.
