Ganesh Baral, the Police Chief of Ela Police Office, Malakheti, has expressed concern over the escalating number of missing women, girls, boys, and men in Godavari, which has inevitably led to a rise in the discovery of individuals facing destitution. Within a single year, a staggering 153 individuals, including men, women, and children, were reported missing from the region, with 36 of them still unaccounted for.
Of the 38 individuals rescued, 13 women, 12 boys, 12 girls, and one man were found abandoned at various locations within Godavari Municipality. Subsequently, these individuals were safely handed over to respective organizations, aiming to provide them with the necessary support and care. It has been observed that the majority of the rescued individuals were found homeless around the Attaria market area, which is a pivotal transportation hub in the province.
Police Chief Baral highlighted that this disconcerting situation has brought to the forefront pressing challenges, such as the issue of women and children disappearing in Godavari, the prevalence of child marriages, incidents of suicide, and the alarming rise of drug-related issues.
Efforts are being made to address these pressing concerns and protect the vulnerable members of the community. The authorities and various organizations are collaborating to find sustainable solutions and ensure the safety and well-being of the affected individuals in Godavari.
