Baitadi school damaged by earthquake
Baitadi: A school building in Baitadi was damaged due to the 6.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Khaptad National Park at 2:12 PM on Wednesday. Due to the earthquake, schools in Patan municipality and Sigas rural municipality have suffered more damage.
Siddheshwar Secondary School Hukkedanda located in Patan Municipality-9, a newly constructed building costing about 2 million rupees has been opened. The school informed that there was a loss of around nine lakh rupees. Similarly, President of Hukkedanda School Management Committee Prem Bhat informed that Siddhadeep Basic School of Patan Municipality-8, Janapriya Basic School of Patan Municipality-9, and Siddhanath Mavi's building of Patan-2 were damaged due to the earthquake.
Education Branch Officer Ramesh Prasad Bhatt informed that due to the earthquake, the buildings of various schools in Sigas rural municipality, which is connected to Doti district, were damaged. How many schools across the district have been damaged due to the earthquake? Narendra Prasad Awasthi, Head of Education Development and Coordination Unit, Baitadi, said that they have been instructed to collect the details and send them immediately.
He said that there are 546 community schools in Baitadi. He said that most of the school buildings in Baitadi were damaged because they were not earthquake resistant.
