Tikapur: The flood-affected farmers of Bhajani Municipality of Kailali have complained of lack of seeds for winter wheat cultivation. The flood victims have complained that there is a shortage of seeds during cultivation because the seeds stored by the flood have been destroyed.

Bhajani-8 Sonahafata Faguram Choudhary said that there is a shortage of seeds for cultivation as the flood has destroyed all the grains in the house. "Flood destroys the rice in the fields, not only the rice in the fields, but also the food and seeds stored at home, so there is a shortage of seeds," he said. "On one hand, there is a shortage of food. On the other hand, if we cultivate, there is no seed or fertilizer. Everyone here has a problem.”

He says that even though those who are not left with dry farming can survive on winter farming, it is a problem because it makes sense to plow seeds, fertilizers and fields for farming at this time. “All farmers have the same problem. They needed money to plow the fields, those who sold the paddy crop could not sell it this year", he says, "Now if we get the help of seeds and fertilizers, we can do the farming, otherwise it is difficult."

Farmer Garbhulal Chaudhary also says that there is a problem in farming because there are no wheat seeds. “We have a lot of problems. At present we need seeds and fertilizers for wheat cultivation”, he says, “We are hoping that the local government will help us. Right now, if you help us with seeds and fertilizers, we will not have to starve."

Sita Chaudhary of Bhajani's three bighas of paddy was destroyed by flood. One and a half quintal of seeds stored for wheat cultivation were also washed away by the flood. "All the seeds kept for wheat, lentil, and mustard cultivation have been destroyed, now we are not even able to buy seeds", she complains.

The municipality has a program to distribute onion seeds and mushroom seeds along with wheat. "Statistics of damage caused by floods to farmers are coming from the ward. The executive has decided to give fish logs to fish farmers", he said, "The program will proceed after the executive decides about the rest of the farmers. Now there is no separate relief for the flood-affected farmers." Nine thousand and 90 families have been affected in Bhajani due to repeated floods in this year.
