Baitadi: There is a shortage of medicines in Baitadi. There is a lack of free medicines in the health institutions of Dogdakedar, Dilashaini Rural Municipality of the district.

Yogesh Prasad Bhatt, Head of Health Office Baitadi, informed that there was a lack of free medicines during monitoring at Nwali health post in Dogdakedar, Dadia basic health center in Dilashaini and Rudreshwar health post.

Although the government has arranged to provide 38 types of medicines free of charge from the health post level, there is a shortage of some medicines here. He said that there is a shortage of oxytocin, an injection that can be administered quickly during childbirth, especially in those health institutions.

Currently, the respective municipalities are supplying medicines to the health institutions. Since the municipality has a budget to buy medicine, even though the municipality buys the medicine and sends it to the health center, the medicine is not provided free of charge as stated in the health institution. According to Health Chief Bhatt, there is a shortage of medicines because the local levels did not buy medicines on time.
