Four Nepalese accused of stealing 38 lakh IC along with 3.5 kg gold roam freely without proper interrogation
Dhangadhi: Four Nepali citizens have been accused of stealing 38 lakh Indian currency along with 3.5 kg of gold. The theft took place in 61-year-old Rambhool Singh's house in New Delhi, India. According to Rambhool Singh, the theft took place a month ago and an FIR was lodged immediately on July 12 at the Vivek Vihar police station in New Delhi. According to Singh the accused Neeraj Khatri and his wife Kamala Khatri from Paima Tole in Triveni Municipality Ward no - 9 Bajura were working in Singh's house for the past 3 months.
Singh's family had gone to the market for shopping while the house with the left under Khatri's care when he committed the theft along with the help of two other men named Gokul Shah and Hikmat Khatri from Dhangadhi Sub-municipality. According to Rambhool Singh's daughter, the Delhi Police were informed about the theft after an hour after the incident. They filed an FIR at the Vivek Vihar District Police Station. Vivek Vihar District Police Station deployed a team to investigate the theft. Police checked the footage on the CCTV camera and found three people entering the house to commit the crime. Thereafter, they get inside an SUV taxi and flee. The police further tracked the taxi driver's phone. They were headed towards Khatima.
On July 13 the team deployed by Delhi Police left for Tanakpur but failed to catch them. By the time the Delhi Police reached Tanakpur, the accused had already entered Nepal and as the Delhi Police didn't have permission from the embassy to enter Nepal they had to return to Delhi. After Delhi Police failed to catch the perpetrators Rambhool Singh along with his sons visited Nepal to get justice.
They visited Bajura Police Station. "The SSP told me that he is going for a holiday and that my case would be handled by SI Narayan Singh. I along with my son, son-in-law, and nephew went to the Bajura Police Station to meet SI Narayan Singh. SI Narayan Singh kept us waiting for 2 hours while we requested him to take Kamala into their custody for interrogation. He refused for 2 hours on the account of not getting any orders from the DIG," said the victim. "We finally got orders from the DIG and went to interrogate Kamala," said Singh. "On conducting a basic search the police found jewellery that belong to my wife along with 50,000 rupees Indian currency," he added.
According to Singh, Kamala was kept in police custody for a day and was released the next day. Singh said, "On requesting to search Neeraj Khatri's village, SI Narayan Singh said that he would not go to Neeraj's village without orders from the DIG, he claimed that the villagers would resort to stone pelting if they went to search their village." SI Narayan Singh stalled them for 8 hours and finally went to Neeraj's village to find him by that time Neeraj had fled informing the victim.
Singh said, "the village only had 8 to 9 houses and one of Neeraj's neighbours claimed to have seen him 2 days before our arrival." After SI Narayan Singh showed little support to the victim, the victim returned to Dhangadhi and went to the District Police Office, Dhangadhi to meet the DIG.
DIG Mohan Acharaya further referred them to SP Somendra Rathour. SP Somendra Rathour asked them to write an application requesting for the main accused Kamala to be brought to Dhangadhi for further interrogation. Rambhool Singh's son wrote an application demanding the investigation. "Kamala is the main person behind disseminating all the information regarding where the possessions were kept.
She left the house prior after informing Neeraj and then Neeraj along with three other people conducted the theft. Since then Kamala has not been brought to Dhangadhi for interrogation. Gokul Bahadur Shah along with Neeraj Khatri and Hikmat Khatri are still absconding. Gokul Bahadur Shah's wife lives in Dhangadhi and Neeraj Khatri's father also lives in Dhangadhi but none of them has been taken to the District Police Office Dhangadhi for interrogation. A person who is acquainted with Neeraj Khatri checked his Instagram profile and told Rambhool Singh that Neeraj along with Gokul Shah, Hikmat Khatri and Navraj Khatri are currently holidaying in Pokhara.
