2,440 new cases of COVID-19 registered on Monday
Kathmandu : As many as 2.440 new cases of COVID-19 have been registered across the country on Monday alone.
At a regular press briefing at the Ministry today, spokesperson of Ministry of Health and Population Dr Jageshwar Gautam shared that the new cases were diagnosed while conducting PCR tests on 13,781 individuals in the past 24 hours.
Dr Gautam added that 1,531 individuals were found infected in the Kathmandu valley alone during the past 24 hours. Of them, 1,178 were from Kathmandu, 103 from Bhaktapur and 250 from Lalitpur. With this, the number of infected has reached 89,263 in the country.
According to the ministry, 1133 infected have returned home after complete health recovery in the period. With this, the number of recoveries has reached 65,202 in the country so far. Dr Gautam further informed that the total number of active cases in the country has surged to 23,507. Among them, 12,316 are staying in home isolations and 11,191 are in institutional isolations.
According to Dr Gautam, 244 infected persons are undergoing treatment in ICU while 43 are under the support of ventilators in different hospitals across the country.
The death toll from COVID-19 has reached 19 in the past 24 hours. The number of coronavirus related fatalities has so far jumped to 554 in the country. ---
