Kanchanpur Police annual report: Full resolution of women and children’s complaints, 38 deaths in 502 road accidents
Kanchanpur: The District Police Office, Kanchanpur, has made public its annual progress report for the fiscal year 2082/083, stating that notable progress has been achieved in resolving complaints related to women and children, traffic management, searching for missing persons, and controlling social evils.
According to the public report, 333 complaints were registered at the Women, Children and Senior Citizen Service Center during the year, and all of them have been resolved. The police further stated that no complaints are currently pending at the center. It is also mentioned that 80 individuals were rescued from the border crossing with India during this period.
The report highlights progress in tracing missing persons. Out of 196 missing women, 192 have been found while 4 remain missing. Similarly, all 57 missing boys have been located. Among 118 missing girls, 115 have been found and 3 remain missing. All 22 missing senior citizens have been found, while 106 out of 110 missing men have been located, with 4 still untraced, according to police.
In the traffic management section, details of 502 road accidents were recorded in the district during the fiscal year. These accidents resulted in 38 fatalities and 772 injuries. The report also states that 13 quadrupeds were killed and 4 were injured in these incidents.
Police said action was taken against 6,571 vehicles for violating traffic rules, generating revenue of Rs. 4,675,500. Similarly, 464 individuals were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol, with Rs. 257,500 collected in fines. Action was also taken against 28 individuals found driving under the influence of drugs.
To promote road safety awareness, 346 traffic awareness programs were conducted throughout the year, benefiting 22,800 citizens.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a special campaign aimed at reducing the Chhaupadi practice in the far-western region. Under this campaign, 150 Chhaugoths in various local levels of the district were demolished, including 23 in Ward No. 10 of Bedkot Municipality and 127 in Ward No. 1 of Krishnapur Municipality.
The District Police Office, Kanchanpur, stated that the campaign will continue in coordination with local levels, civil society, and media to build a safer society, promote road safety, and eliminate social evils.
