Supporters of Ramesh Lekhak Burn effigies of Nepali Congress leaders after ticket denial
Mahendranagar: Supporters of former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak burned effigies of Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa and Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma in Kanchanpur-3, protesting the party’s decision not to grant Lekhak a ticket for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
The Nepali Congress has nominated Hari Bohara as its candidate in Kanchanpur-3, leaving Lekhak, a three-time elected representative from the constituency, without a ticket. Lekhak is considered a trusted ally of party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.
In Kanchanpur, which has three constituencies, the party has fielded Regional President Gopi Upadhyay in constituency number 1 and former minister NP Saund in constituency number 2.
