Timber smuggler arrested, four motorcycles seized in Kailali

Dhangadhi: A person involved in timber smuggling has been arrested within the Bharatal Partnership Forest Users Group in Kailali. A joint patrol team from the Partnership Forest and the Sub-Division Forest Office, Phulwari apprehended the individual on Monday night.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Karan Rana of Dhangadhi-15, according to Kapil Rawal, Chief of the Sub-Division Forest Office, Phulwari. Chief Rawal stated that Rana will be charged under the Forest Act.

In addition, the patrol team seized four motorcycles used in timber smuggling. The vehicles, bearing registration numbers S. 3 P. 2068, M.1.P-8578, S.P.P. 01-013 P. 0406, and S. 1 P. 7559, were confiscated, said Yadav Bhandari, Chairman of the Bharatal Partnership Forest Users Group.

Chairman Bhandari added that the search for other suspects who fled on motorcycles is ongoing. Regular joint patrols have been conducted in the forest area following a recent rise in timber theft and smuggling incidents.
