Bajura farmer earns Rs 30,000 a month by selling buffalo milk
Bajura: Bindaraj Pandey of Dhim, Himali Rural Municipality-6, Bajura, has been earning Rs 30,000 per month by selling milk.
Although he used to travel outside the district and to various parts of India for employment, Pandey now earns a steady income by raising buffaloes in his village. Having engaged in buffalo rearing for years, he sustains his family by selling milk both in the morning and evening, and has since stopped seeking work elsewhere.
By raising buffaloes and selling milk in the local markets, Pandey has been able to support his household and educate his son. His son now works as a teacher at Bhawani Secondary School in the village.
Pandey shared that he used to travel to India for seasonal work during the winter months but has stopped doing so. “Now I always keep two buffaloes at home. When one dries up, the other gives milk. The house never runs out of milk, and by selling it, I have been able to educate my son well,” he said.
Chairman of Himali Rural Municipality, Govindra Bahadur Malla, said that various subsidy programs have been introduced to encourage buffalo farming in the area, which has made it easier for many local farmers, including Pandey, to raise buffaloes and improve their livelihoods.
