Westerly winds expected to influence weather during Tihar, department urges caution
Dhangadhi: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has issued a special weather bulletin for this year’s Tihar festival, forecasting a general influence of westerly winds across the country.
According to the bulletin released at 6 p.m. on Saturday, while no significant weather system is expected during Tihar, the westerly winds will bring partly to generally cloudy conditions over hilly regions, with chances of light rain in some areas and light snowfall in high mountain regions.
The department stated that weather conditions across most parts of the country will remain clear on Kartik 3, the day of Lakshmi Puja. However, light rain is possible in one or two locations of the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
On Kartik 4, the day of Aunsi, hilly regions are expected to experience partly cloudy skies, with scattered rain possible in the hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. On Govardhan Puja day, Kartik 5, the department forecasts partly to generally cloudy conditions in the hilly areas, with light rain or snowfall likely in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Karnali.
Similarly, on Bhai Tika day, Kartik 6, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy in Koshi and other hilly regions, with light rain predicted in some hilly areas across all provinces. The department has also indicated the possibility of light snowfall in some high mountain locations.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has advised the public to remain cautious regarding possible rain and weather fluctuations during the festival period.
