Police post in-charge assaulted in Kanchanpur, three arrested

Dhangadhi: Deputy Inspector of Police (SI) Devendra Bahadur Chand, in-charge of the Brahmadev Police Post, was assaulted in Kanchanpur on Thursday evening. The incident took place in the Brahmadev section of the under-construction Mahakali Corridor area in Bhimdatta Municipality-9.

According to police spokesperson Sagar Bohara, the altercation occurred between passengers and the driver of a Bolero jeep traveling from Mahendranagar to Jogbudha. SI Chand had reportedly intervened after seeing the jeep overloaded with passengers and goods. When he questioned the driver, identified as Ramesh Dhami, about taking such risks, the group attacked him.

SI Chand has previously faced accusations of extorting money from business groups involved in smuggling. Following the assault, police took three youths into custody for their involvement in the attack. However, the driver has not yet been arrested, police said.
