Dhangadhi: The Sudurpaschim Provincial Government, with assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is set to develop a trekking trail in the popular religious and tourist destination of Badimalika.

Bharat Prasad Shrestha, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment, stated that the provincial government plans to build infrastructure to enhance tourist convenience in Badimalika. The project will include a trekking trail connecting Badimalika and Khaptad, developed under an agreement with the ADB.

“The provincial government is emphasizing religious tourism and will construct tourism infrastructure with Rs 220 million from the ADB,” Shrestha said. “A budget of Rs 70 million has been allocated in the current fiscal year for the trekking trail, while Rs 12.5 million was spent last year on building a trail and a rest house in the area.”

Shrestha also highlighted measures to promote tourism, including arrangements for hoteliers, homestays, and tourist guides. Help desks have been established at Gaddachauki and Gaurifanta checkpoints in Kanchanpur to assist visitors.

“The provincial government is prioritizing the development of tourist destinations,” he said. “This year, Rs 7 million has been allocated for the upgrade of Tikapur Airport. In addition, Majhagaun Airport is under construction with 25 percent investment from the provincial government, considering Shuklaphanta National Park.”

The ministry spokesperson added that initiatives are underway to develop nature-based tourism, aiming to establish Badimalika as a premier destination for both devotees and tourists.
