Samjhana Bhatta death case: Husband sent to jail, In-laws released on Bail
Kanchanpur: In the death case of 17-year-old Samjhana Bhatta of Beldandi, Kanchanpur, her husband has been sent to jail for retrial.
The Kanchanpur District Court on Thursday ordered the arrest of Samjhana’s husband, Pawan Bhatta, while directing the release of other accused family members on bail.
According to Rajendra Bahadur, Information Officer of the Kanchanpur District Court, the court ordered the release of Samjhana’s father-in-law Haridatta Bhatta and sister-in-law Pooja Bhatta on a bail of Rs 100,000 each, while her mother-in-law Kiran Bhatta was released on a regular date. The order was issued by a single bench of Judge Rajendra Bhandari.
With this ruling, three accused have been released, while Samjhana’s husband remains in custody for trial.
Samjhana was found hanging at her home on the morning of August 18. Following her death, her family lodged a case of abetment to suicide at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur. The case was heard behind closed doors on Thursday.
