Land ownership certificates distributed to 72 unorganized settlers in Darchula
Darchula: The Land Problem Resolution Commission, Darchula, has distributed land ownership certificates to 72 unorganized settlers whose cases were pending from previous commissions, committees, and task forces.
Lal Singh Dhami, Chairman of the Land Problem Resolution Commission, District Committee, Darchula, said the distribution was carried out in line with the Procedure for Collection of Records of Landless Dalits, Landless Squatters, and Unorganized Settlers-2078. The process included land surveying, field deeds, and revenue collection before the certificates were handed over, informed Tikendra Singh Dhami, Member Secretary of the District Committee and Chief of the Survey Office, Darchula.
He further noted that during the tenure of the National Land Commission, land ownership certificates had been distributed to 20 unorganized settlers of Duhu Rural Municipality-4, Dhami Boharigaun in fiscal year 2080/81. Similarly, in fiscal year 2081/82, 47 unorganized settlers of Shailyashikhar Municipality-6 received certificates on Asad 30.
In the current fiscal year 2082/83, certificates were distributed to five additional residents of Shailyashikhar Municipality-6 during a program held at the District Coordination Committee Office, Khalanga, on Wednesday. The program was conducted under the chief hospitality of Constituent Assembly member and UML Politburo member Ganesh Singh Thagunna. Chairman Dhami said this marked the second distribution of land ownership certificates in the district since the formation of the Land Commission.
So far, the commission has prepared files for 81 applicants in Darchula. Member Secretary Dhami stated that certificates will be issued once landowners clear the required revenue payments as per records. According to the commission, 146 landless Dalits, 67 squatters, and 1,560 unorganized settlers have submitted applications in the district.
