Woman and child killed by falling stone while sleeping under tarp in Achham

Achham: Two people lost their lives after being struck by a falling stone while sleeping under a tarp in a field in Achham.

According to police, the incident occurred in Selapani, Panchadeval Binayak Municipality-8, where 7-year-old Kabita Bhandari and 35-year-old Nim Khanal died on the spot after being hit by the stone.

The deceased girl’s mother, 36-year-old Ratna Bhandari, who was also sleeping under the tarp, sustained injuries and has been taken to Barla Health Post for treatment.

Police said the women had been staying under the tarp during menstruation. Both Khanal and Bhandari had returned to their maternal home and were sleeping there after arranging a tarp. The deceased girl’s mother, Mayal, had also been with them at the time.

The District Police Office, Achham, stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
