Ruling coalition engages in talks to resolve deadlock in Far-western provincial assembly
Dhangadhi: The ruling coalition parties held discussions on Tuesday to address the ongoing obstacles in the Far Western Provincial Assembly and restore its operations.
The talks focused on resuming House proceedings and ensuring that the provincial assembly is not rendered ineffective due to indecision. Nepali Congress Chief Whip Bikram Singh Dhami stated that discussions also covered the need for the government to provide sufficient legislative business.
Meanwhile, the Business Arrangements Advisory Committee meeting, called by Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari on Tuesday, could not take place as ruling party representatives were absent, according to Dev Bahadur Bogati, Secretary of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat. The opposition party, however, was present for the meeting.
The opposition has been obstructing the assembly, citing concerns over excessive government expenditure, political appointments, and the need for good governance. Despite multiple meetings aimed at resolving the impasse, no agreement has been reached. The all-party meeting convened on Monday also ended without a conclusion.
