Death toll in Dadeldhura bus accident rises to five
Dadeldhura: The death toll in the Pawandut Transport bus accident in Dadeldhura has risen to five, following the discovery of one more body at the crash site on Wednesday morning.
The body of 60-year-old Govani Mahara, a resident of Purchaudi Municipality-10, Baitadi, was found at 11 a.m., according to Upendra Bam, Information Officer and Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Dadeldhura.
The bus, bearing registration number 8 B 1078, was traveling from Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, to Purchaudi, Baitadi, when it plunged about 300 meters from the road at Khasrekhan in Amargadhi Municipality-7 on Tuesday night. Four other victims, identified as 45-year-old Jaimti Bohra, 22-year-old Sahdev Bohra, and 21-year-old Kamala Bohra, all from Purchaudi-3, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Twelve people, including the bus driver, Birendra Bohra, who sustained serious injuries, have been sent to Dhangadhi for further treatment. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
