Seti Provincial Hospital generates revenue from waste sales
Dhangadhi—Seti Provincial Hospital has earned a notable sum from selling its garbage.
In the financial year 2080/81, the hospital sold a total of 122,032.97 kilograms of waste, generating an income of NPR 546,906. The hospital's waste management efforts have been profitable, with significant earnings recorded throughout the year.
For instance, in July last year, the hospital sold 9,356.24 kilograms of waste, earning NPR 56,023. This included both hazardous and non-hazardous waste. In August, the hospital earned NPR 44,865 from the sale of 8,228 kilograms of waste.
The trend continued with earnings of NPR 48,692 in October from 12,294 kilograms of waste, and NPR 37,497 from 9,256 kilograms in the same month. Further, in November, NPR 40,299 was earned from 9,556 kilograms of waste, and in January, NPR 49,316 was earned from 8,771 kilograms.
February brought in NPR 47,210 from 9,065 kilograms of waste, while March yielded NPR 44,341 from 10,538 kilograms. The hospital's waste management program, which includes an annual contract for waste reuse, has proven financially beneficial. This initiative underscores the potential for hospitals to contribute to sustainability while generating additional revenue.
