Smuggling of Wood Detected in Godavari Forest, Kailali

Dhangadhi: Recent investigations have uncovered instances of timber smuggling from the Godavari forests in Kailali. It has been observed that Sissoo wood is being illegally extracted from the Vasantpur Mahila Community Forest located in Godavari Municipality-4 of the district.

Nirajan Kadel, the Head of the Sub Division Forest Office in Attaria, reported that Bachu Choudhary and Faguram Choudhary were apprehended while cutting wood in the forest. They claimed that they were gathering firewood for a wedding, but their activities were halted due to the discovery of Sissoo wood. Discussions are currently underway regarding whether to pursue legal action or hand over the matter to the community forest authorities.
