Five missing after avalanche in Nepal's Darchula district, three bodies recovered
Darchula: The bodies of three individuals who lost their lives in an avalanche in Nepal's Byas Rural Municipality-1 Bholung on Tuesday have been transported to the Khalanga headquarters in Darchula after a three-day search.
According to Gyanendra Bahadur Singh, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Darchula, the bodies were brought from Changru and were delayed by a landslide on the Indian Tavaghat-Lipulak road section in the Najyang area. The bodies were identified as Kamala Kunwar, 38, and her 18-year-old son Pravin Kunwar, both from Duhun Rural Municipality-4 of Darchula, and 45-year-old Nakni Doma Thapa of Zorayal Rural Municipality-2 Budar of Doti.
Two others, 28-year-old Ishwari Thapa and 15-year-old Chimi Somo Thapa of Jorayal Rural Municipality-2 Budar, Doti, who were also caught in the avalanche, are still missing. The search for the missing persons is ongoing, with a joint team of Armed Police and Nepal Police leading the efforts.
The individuals were reportedly in the area to harvest Yarsagumba, a medicinal herb found in the Himalayan region.
