'Ghorighora Lawangi Pooja' at Kailali

Dhangadhi: Ghorighora Lawangi Puja and Tharu Cultural Festival 2079 BS has started at Kailali Ghodaghodi. The festival was started with the aim of promoting tourism in the lake, promoting Tharu tradition, art, culture, cultural revival and helping in the religious sector. In the event of Lawangi Puja and Ghorighora festival, Badka dance danced by the old Guruwas of Tharu community, Sakhiya dance danced by women in groups, Lathi dance, Jhumra dance, Din Nachuwa dance, Dhamar, Mangar, as well as the preservation and enhancement of the local talent of the Tharu community as well as to recognize the identity of their community at the national and international level. Various presentations were presented.

According to the organizing organization, Ghodaghodi and Culture Preservation Society, there will be an exhibition of Tharu culture commercial materials, a tableau exhibition of local villages, performances by national and local artists, lifestyle costumes of Tharu tribes and tribal communities, and various Tharu dances. It is said that the Tharu community has been performing clove worship on horses since ancient times. After bringing the grain into the house, clove worship is celebrated here with the belief that the grain should be offered to the deity.

For the last decade, a festival has been organized here to celebrate Lawangi Pooja. On the last day of Lawangi Puja, the practice of eating new grain only after sacrificing a horse in the temple, according to the Tharu tradition, has been going on in the Tharu community until now. The Tharu community calls Ghodaghodi temple as Ghorighora (horse) temple. Devotees from Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dang come here.
