Shailyashikhar municipality agriculture Chief and Mayor’s son arrested for document forgery

Darchula: Two employees of Shailyashikhar Municipality in Darchula have been arrested on charges of forgery and falsification of government documents.
The arrested individuals are Deepak Raj Bista, the municipality’s agriculture branch chief, and Janak Singh Dhami, a veterinary technician and son of Mayor Vijay Singh Dhami. The arrests were made on Wednesday with the approval of the district court, confirmed Chhatra Bahadur Rawat, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Darchula.

Both are under investigation for preparing fraudulent documents falsely indicating the deaths of Janaki Dhami, treasurer, and Manju Dhami, secretary of the Malikarjun Agua Farmers Group.
The forgery was uncovered during preparations to withdraw funds for the ‘Okhar Pocket Area’ program by reactivating the group’s dormant bank account. Agriculture Branch Chief Bista had written to Global IME Bank, Gokuleshwar branch, requesting verification of the signatures of Chairman Janak Singh Dhami and Secretary Basanti Bohara as replacements for Janaki and Manju Dhami on the group’s account.
