Thirteen injured in Bajura jeep accident rescued by army helicopter

Bajura: Thirteen individuals injured in a jeep accident while traveling from QD village to Kawadi in Himali Rural Municipality have been evacuated by a Nepali Army helicopter this morning.

The jeep (registration Ba Pa 03-001 Ja 0338), carrying more passengers than its capacity, lost control on an unpaved road and crashed. Two passengers died instantly, and another succumbed during the rescue operation, according to Police Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary of the District Police Office.

Among the injured were the jeep driver, 23-year-old Gauri Budha; 35-year-old Banchilal Rokaya; 70-year-old Bhadauri Rokaya; 22-year-old Banchidhan Rokaya; and 45-year-old Bir Bahadur Rokaya, all residents of the same rural municipality-5. They were airlifted to the Provincial Hospital of Karnali Province in Surkhet for advanced treatment. Assistant Chief District Officer Sheetal Bahadur Rawal noted that multiple helicopter trips were required due to the number of injured.

Police Inspector Chaudhary confirmed that 76-year-old Bijaura Rokaya and 75-year-old Banchikala Rokaya died at the scene, while 35-year-old Juneli Rokaya passed away during the rescue efforts. Following the accident, Himali Rural Municipality deployed ambulances and health workers to assist with the rescue and care of the injured.
