Dhangadhi: The suspension bridge built on the Mohana river connecting Kailali and Kanchanpur districts is at risk. The bridge that connects Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-13 in Kailali, Sri Lanka and Krishnapur municipality-8 in Kanchanpur is at high risk due to the erosion of the Mohana river.

According to the local people, the bridge which was at risk due to the flood a few weeks ago, has been flooded again after the continuous rain. Stating that the distance between the pillar of the bridge and the bank of the river is only one and a half meters due to continuous erosion, they said that if the bridge cannot be maintained in time, the traffic will be closed.

More than 10,000 people travel on the bridge daily, which was built in 2067 BS. The locals complain that the local level and related agencies have not paid attention to the prevention of bridge erosion. Chief District Officer of Kailali, Kiran Thapa, said that after understanding the condition of the bridge, the process of erosion prevention will be started immediately.
