Mahakali Irrigation Project requires fifty crore to proceed further

Mahakali Irrigation Project was started twelve years ago to provide irrigation and connectivity between Kailali and Kanchanpur. However, only thirteen kilometer of the canal has been constructed eversince. The project is in its third phase with six packages which requires fifty crores to continue. Some areas of Shuklaphata National Park falls under the project plan which has not been sanctioned, while Mahakali Irrigation Project also lacks a plan to rehabilitate the families which were displaced due to the project.
