Bajura: Badimalika Municipality has prohibited the sale and distribution of plastic flowers, garlands, and decorative items within its jurisdiction ahead of the Tihar festival.

Through an official notice, the municipality has asked traders not to sell or distribute plastic flowers, garlands, or similar decorative products during the festival period.

The municipality has also urged business owners, traders, and the general public to prioritize the sale and use of natural flowers and garlands produced locally.

According to the municipality, the initiative aims to promote local production, protect the environment, and reduce the use of plastic-based materials.

The municipality has warned that any plastic or substandard flowers, garlands, or decorative items found being sold in violation of the decision will be confiscated.

Deputy Mayor Nanda Kumari Thapa said the ban on imported plastic products was introduced to encourage local farmers to engage in floriculture and create a source of income for them.
