Bajura: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold re-polling or counting of votes in Bajura's Budhiganga Municipality only after studying the on-site study report.

According to the Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission, Surya Prasad Aryal, the Commission has already received the on-site study report of Budhi Ganga Municipality. A team led by Commissioner Sagun Shamsher Rana had gone there.

After studying the report, a meeting of the commissioners with the Chief Election Commissioner will decide what to do, said Assistant Spokesperson Aryal. He said, "The report of the on-site study team led by Hon'ble Sagun Shamsher Jabra has already arrived. The report of the study team led by Hon'ble Ram Prasad Bhandari is yet to come. After the study of the report, the decision of the meeting of the honorable commissioners will be the same."

Nepali Congress has demanded re-polling in Budhiganga municipality. It is alleged that CPN-UML cadres occupied booths at various polling stations in the municipality and cast fake votes. Congress chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel had demanded a re-run of the polls in a statement issued on May 13. The Nepali Congress (NC) is not in favor of the counting of votes saying that clashes took place between UML and Nepali Congress (NC) cadres in wards 2, 3, 5 and 9 of the municipality.

UML, on the other hand, is in favor of counting of votes as there is no rigging or booth occupation in any of the polling stations.
