Nepali Congress has emerged victorious in Vedkot

Dhangadhi: Nepali Congress has emerged victorious in Vedkot Municipality of Kanchanpur, which is considered as its stronghold by UML. The Nepali Congress, which was limited to one ward in 1974 BS, has won in five wards including the mayor and deputy mayor this time.

Congress' Bhoj Raj Bohara has won the mayorship of the municipality. She won with 8078 votes while her UML rival Sushila Singh got 4740 votes. Ram Chandra Regmi of Samajwadi Party and Bam Bahadur Bam of RPP got 3898 and 1751 votes respectively.

Congress' Tulshi Joshi has also won the post of deputy mayor. She received 7254 votes. His rival Parvati Bhatta of UML got 5727 votes and Hira Jaishi of UCPN (Maoist) got 3652 votes. In the 2074 election, Bohara and Joshi lost to UML's Ashok Chand and Sushila Singh.
