Three held on charge of gang rape
Myagdi: Three persons absconding for 20 days after their involvement in a gang rape have been held by the police. They have been charged of raping a woman in the district on October 19. Organising a news conference on Monday, the police made public Prakash Ramdam, Prabesh Ramdam and Hitman Baniya of Pulachaur, Myagdi.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Kumar Rai said that 22-year-old Prakash was held from Rupandehi on Sunday while Prabesh, 18, and Hitman, 24, were nabbed from Pokhara on Monday. Prabesh and Prakash are brothers. The three are charged of being involved in the gang rape of a woman at her house while she was asleep. DSP Rai said that a case on gang rape has been filed at the District Court, Myagdi, and they have been kept in judicial custody for seven days.
They were arrested based on a complaint filed by the rape survivor. However, the relatives and parents of the accused three have claimed that attempts were made to languish the three by politicizing the issue though the act was consensual.
