Leftist leader Awasthi dies in Kailali.
Dhangadhi: Leftist leader and social activist Prithviraj Awasthi of Baitadi has passed away. Leading leader of the leftist movement Prithviraj Awasthi, who hails from Surnaya village municipality-6, died on Saturday. Awasthi was currently living in Geta Bijaura, Ward No. 1, Godawari Municipality, Kailali. He died at 10:30 am on Saturday. His relative Padma Raj Awasthi informed that he passed away at the age of 86. Awasthi, who has been fighting for social change for a long time, had been unwell for several years. Awasthi has been instrumental in advancing the leftist movement in Baitadi. According to the locals, Awasthi has also contributed a lot to the end of caste discrimination.
After the change of 2046 BS, Awasthi, who had contested the election from UML, was defeated. Awasthi, who was awarded the title of Prabal Janasewa (Class IV), also got Gorkha Dakshin Bahu. Prithviraj Awasthi is considered an ideological and loyal leader. He also led the civil society Baitadi for a long time.
Leaders, individuals, and organizations of various parties have expressed their grief over Awasthi's demise.
