'20-25 people stage a planned dispute in Dadeldhura after anticipating defeat in their ward'.
Dhangadhi: New leadership of the Nepali Congress has been elected in 50 out of 52 wards of Dadeldhura.
As per the date fixed by the Election Committee, the new leadership has been selected in 50 wards through the ward convention held on September 10. Conventions have not been held in Ajaymeru Gaonpalika Ward No. 3 and Navdurga Rural Municipality Ward No. 5.
District president Karna Malla's group, on the other hand, has been saying that the ward session held amid the active membership dispute will not be valid. The Malla group has been alleging that the names of 460 people recommended by the district have been cut off and the names of 312 people who have not been recommended from any level have been added. Dadeldhura is also the home district of Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
District chairperson Malla, on the other hand, has been alleging that the ward convention was held on the direct order of the central chairperson. The other side has said that the active membership dispute has been brought as planned.
Congress leader and mayor of Parshuram municipality Bhim Bahadur Saund, who was nominated by Deuba for the post of district president, accused him of bringing unnecessary issues into the discussion to bring central president Deuba into controversy.
"New leadership has been unanimously elected in 41 wards," he said. Almost all the active members present in the district have participated. But there is a planned attempt to escalate the dispute in the central chairman's district. ' According to Saund, the Malla group was also in Daudah district before the convention.
"Initially, there was no dispute over active membership. As the convention approached, we and they (the Malla group) went to all the local levels in the district," Saund told Dinesh Khabar. After seeing the situation of defeat in the ward, 20/25 people have started a planned dispute in Dadeldhura. He claimed that all the active members except 20/25 district-level leaders participated in the convention.
Stating that a planned attempt was being made to unnecessarily provoke the chairman Deuba, Saund said that it was wrong to link the chairman with the issue decided by the investigation committee.
"There is no truth in the rumors that the names of the recommended members have been cut off from the district," he said. It is not logical to say that it is the fault of the central chairman who is not involved in it. ' A seven-member committee headed by Congress central member Ramesh Lekhak had investigated the complaints against the active members. According to the investigation committee, out of 2,868 old active members in Dadeldhura, only 2,500 have been distributed as per the procedure.
The committee said that their names were removed after a complaint was lodged that the district chairman had distributed the remaining 308 active members as per his wish.
