12 people diagnosed with Scrub Typhus in Darchula
Dhangadhi: Twelve cases of Scrub Typhus have been detected in Darchula district.
Scrub Typhus has been found in 12 out of 8 women and 4 men. According to the District Hospital, Darchula, 12 people have been diagnosed with Scrub Typhus since July 27. At present, 11 of the infected have been sent home and one is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital.
Last year, 34 people were infected with Scrub Typhus in the district. Of those, 25 were women. Infections are more common in women. Doctors have advised women to pay special attention to their hygiene as they are at a higher risk of contraction as they come in direct contact with livestock and weed in wet places.
So far, Scrub Typhus has been detected in five local levels of the district including Mahakali Municipality, Lekam Municipality, Byans Rural Municipality, Marma Rural Municipality and Malikarjun Rural Municipality.
